w00t!
There's now a craigslist for Rochester!
I've been spending a good bit of time on the Seattle craigslist this week, looking at housing and furniture ads, and thinking how nice it would have been to have had one for Rochester...how did I miss that there was one already?
I found it through a roundabout way. This morning in the coffee room I introduced myself to a woman I didn't know (there aren't many of us around here, so it seems wise to talk with the ones who are!), and found out she's a grad assistant working with the HCI/eyetracking group here. She mentioned that she read my blog (why does it always surprise me, still, when people I don't know say that?), and I asked if she had one of her own. She does--and a good one, too that I've added to my aggregator.
One of her posts was related to del.icio.us, so I looked at her links there, where I found the craigslist link. I also saw how she was using colors in del.icio.us urls, which I found fascinating.
And now I have to stop exploring and get back to writing and analyzing. Much less fun.
Did I just read a w00t?
Actually, now that you mention craigslist Rochester, I went to craigslist some months ago to find myself a super NES, and was disappointed to find that there wasn't a listing for Rochester.
However, after I poked with the URL a tiny bit I found that although there was no listing, there was in fact a site at rochester.craigslist.com. Neat-o. If I had a weblog, I would've mentioned that it was in the works.
Oh, and I don't post here often (read: ever), but I'd like to just mention that RIT is a better place for having you a part of it. I'm all google-eyed at the idea of someone from around here going to Richmond. Excellent! :)
That must be pretty new. I've been keeping an eye on the one for Buffalo, watching for a co-op (no luck) or a cheap motorcycle (read as: rocket death machine). I hadn't visited the site until very recently, so I was disappointed to find there wasn't a Rochester page. As far as I can tell, the cities listed in red on the right side are new additions (beta, maybe?) - none of them are on the fact sheet yet.
Pete, thanks! (And it's definitely not the first time I've used w00t on my blog... :)
And Brock, yes, I think the cities in red are new additions.
Yes, craigslist Rochester has only been around since the last week of March (~the 25th). It's good to see that there are finally some posts on it. For the first week it was stagnant and I was worried that everyone from this area would continue to use buffalo craigslist.
