mystery song from "joan of arcadia"

I watched this weekend's episode of Joan of Arcadia, and at the end there was a lovely song. It wasn't from any of the albums they listed as being featured on the show that night, however, and I'd really like to know where it came from so I can buy the album.

Here are the lyrics...if you recognize them, could you clue me in? Thanks!

tell me where you are and i will come and get you don't you know my love for you is true
just give me a sign and I will be behind you
don't you know i have to find you

don't tell me that it's over
that's not how it should be

babe i recognize i see it in your eyes
there's way too much hurt too many lies

but if we come together, make our love forever
that will be the greatest treasure

don't tell me that it's over
you just got to believe

baby don't you care about the love we had, being happy not sad
guess sometimes things don't work out like we planned

I thought the same thing when I heard it! I hope somebody recognizes it.

TV Tome has a listing of the songs that are played each episode. I don't think that the list is complete because the closest song lyrics I could find to those you posted are these lyrics.

Good questions (this imy favourite show!). I've been googling htis a bit - the songs on that episode were:
"Buddhamatic" by Hennessey
"Be The One" by Will Hoge
"What's Your Name" by Morcheeba featuring Big Daddy Kane
"Don't Leave Me" by The All-American Rejects
"Don't Walk Away Eileen" by Sam Roberts
"2 Become 1" by Jewel

but none of the lyrics match what you have here...

some discussion going on here about it too....

From the Joan of Arcadia Forum at the amazing and wonderful "Television Without Pity" (http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com) comes the two following quotes:
__________________
DrewM: That would be Reed Foehl. The song is called "When It Comes Around".

Taltos19: Without having lyrics or a audio sample, I would guess that the Reed Foehl song "Am I Falling" in the ep Just Say No would be the one played when Clay returns the police badge to Joan, lyrics:
Maybe I'm not here till the end
Maybe it's not what I'm expecting
Maybe I'm not worthy of you
Maybe I just can't wait here for you
And out of the blue I'm broken in two
And two worlds collide with different views
And I'm falling...
==================================

Joan of Arcadia is a great show. One of the best written, most intelligent shows on television today.

Enjoy!

...

Thanks, fivecats. Alas, I listened to teh "When It Comes Around" song on Reed Foehl's site, and that's not it. And the lyrics from "Am I Falling" aren't the lyrics I heard, either.

<sigh> Still looking.

My apologies.

It turns out that you're not the only one interested in tracking down this song. Not only did we like it a lot when we heard it Friday night, but there's a number of people in the aforementioned JoA Forums at TWoP who are trying to track it down as well.

Sadly, none have been successful as of yet.

I'll keep checking the forums and see what I can learn. If I positively identify the song, I'll let you know.

Also, Taltos19 posted the lyrics that are heard at the end of the episode. (I've confirmed that they are correct -- and trying to Google segments have proven fruitless.)

Tell me where you are and I will come and get you
Don't you know my love for you is true
Just give me a sign and I will be behind you
Don't you know I have to find you
Don't tell me that it's over
That's not how it should be. Yeah. Ooh.
Babe I recognize, I see it in your eyes
There's way too much hurt, too many lies
If we come together, make our love forever
That would be the greatest treasure
Don't tell me that it's over, you've just got to believe
Baby don't you care about the love we have
Being happy not sad (not sad)
I guess sometimes things don't work out like we planned...

...

Thanks, fivecats. With luck, someone will track it down. And yes, those lyrics look just like the ones that I posted above. :)

Yeah, I noticed that (again) after I posted. Sorry!

...

I asked about this on one of my lists and this was the reply I got:

-----
It sounds like it was a song created for (or heard for the first time on) that episode. I'd suggest googling the lyrics in a week or two. By then the info will probably have popped up somewhere on the internet.

You can ask Amber Tamblyn on her Official web site username "darkestrose" she usually around the forum.

Deborah, the TWoP Recapper for Joan of Arcadia, posted the following at 7:31am:
============================
I've got the information: it's a song called "Tell Me" sung by Andrea Martin (a friend of Barbara Hall's); the writer/producer is Chris Jannou.

You're welcome. :-)

P.S. It's not available commercially.
===========================
I trust her response. It may not be the full one we wanted, but at least it solves the mystery.

...

Thanks, fivecats!

Perhaps it will eventually be available commercially. One can hope.

I will chime in that I, too, hope we can someday purchase this little ditty. It was very lyrical and poignant.

I have been googling like crazy to find it since the episode aired. Thanks to fivecats for giving us all the info. The answer was what I had begun to suspect might be the case.

Is there any way to get the word to the artist that many of us out here would love to see it produced commercially? There is some great talent there!

Poster "ElectricBoogaloo" on the Television Without Pity forum for Joan of Arcadia has compiled a list of all of the songs heard during each JoA episode thus far, with a brief description of the action of the episode when the song was played.

I believe the artist you're searching for might be Matt Nathanson ...

What was the song from tonights show? Feb. 13. It really hit home. Would like to know asap. thanx

Yes, I want to know the song from Feb. 13 show also. The one sung at the end.

The song at the end of the show is Older Chests by Damien Rice....Just found it!

where can I find the lyrics to the shows theme song.
thanx

Older chests reveal themselves
Like a crack in a wall
Starting small, and grow in time
And we always seem to need the help
Of someone else
To mend that shelf
Too many books
Read me your favourite line

Papa went to other lands
And he found someone who understands
The ticking, and the western man's need to cry
He came back the other day, you know
Some things in life may change
And some things
They stay the same

Like time, there's always time
On my mind
So pass me by, I'll be fine
Just give me time

Older gents sit on the fence
With their cap in hand
Looking grand
They watch their city change
Children scream, or so it seems,
Louder than before
Out of doors, and into stores with bigger names
Mama tried to wash their faces
But these kids they lost their graces
And daddy lost at the races too many times

She broke down the other day, yeah you know
Some things in life may change
But some things they stay the same

Like time, there's always time
On my mind
So pass me by, I'll be fine
Just give me time
Time, there's always time
On my mind
Pass me by, I'll be fine
Just give me time

If God had a name what would it be?
And would you call it to his face?
If you were faced with him in all his glory
what would you ask if you had just one question?

Yeah, Yeah, God is great
Yeah, Yeah, God is good
Yeah Yeah yeah yeah yeah

[This part is the only section heard in the show]
What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

If God had a face
What would it look like?
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and Jesus and the saints
and all the Prophets

Yeah Yeah God is great
Yeah Yeah God is good
Yeah Yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
Just trying to make his way home
Back up to Heaven all alone
Nobody callin' on the phone
cept for the Pope maybe in Rome

Yeah Yeah God is great
Yeah Yeah God is good
Yeah Yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
Like a holly Rolling Stone
Back up to Heaven all alone
Just trying to make his way home
Nobody callin' on the phone
'cept for the Pope maybe in Rome

does anyone know the name of the song that was played in the feb. 13th episode when kevin and rebecca are going upstairs to her apartment? it started out "i can't be anything without you".

hey, I would really like to know if anyone knows what was the name of the song at the end of the episode of Jan 9th...I liked it a lot, but I can't find it anywhere...
THNX!

i too, love this song-and it had such a familiar sound to it. well wadda ya' know...while going thru some cds i havent't listened for some time-i found the original..on a 1995 cd by joan osborne entitled relish. the title od the song on this cd is "one of us",written by eric bazillian. it is fantastic, probably why i bought the cd originally.enjoy!

Song titles are usually posted in the "Trumpets And Hosannas: Holy Music!" forum over at the Television Without Pity website. (TWoP: http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com ||| JoA Forums: http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showforum=575)

Chris (above) also mentions that songs are posted over at TV Tome.

...

I am needing as complete as possible a list of songs that have been used in Joan of Arcadia. Is there a web site available or does anyone know? Either post here or, if possible, email me. Thanks.

Are we going to be able to purchase a cd w/allthe music from the episodes? The music is wonderful! I would love to be able to have my own cd of all of it.
This is the best new show on tv in an awfully looong time! More!

2/27/04 at the end of the episode when Joan is in the kitchen, her sprained ankle on the table there was a song playing in the back ground. "I want to be your best friend" Sounds like Springsteen or Dylan. Anyone know who or what song it was?

Hey JofA Fans-
Just letting you know that the song "MAZE" by the Philadelphia, PA band 4 Way Street was featued loud and long in this weeks episode! (ended with Joan on the steps of school)
Hope you'll consider checking out the disc "Pretzel Park by 4WS on Sanctuary Records. We need all the help we can get!
PS- I think that "Dylan or Springsteen song" was BECK.
Cheers!- Ben A & 4 WS

That amazing piece of music at the end of the 2/27 episode was, "it's all in your mind" by Beck, from his extremely heartfelt album -- Sea Change. If you liked that song, you'll like the whole album.
