too many sheep to count

I followed an intriguing link on Stewart's sidebar, which took me to Matt Webb Jones, which in turn took me to a fascinating site about John Titor. Claiming to be a time traveller from 2036, Titor posted to an online forum from November 2000 through March 2001.

The first two lines of the quote are what stuck with Stewart and Matt, but it's the third line that resonates with me. And not just because of the obvious national and international relevance...it also hits way too close to the (mostly) unbloggable frustrations I have about my job these days.

Perhaps I should let you all in on a little secret. No one likes you in the future. This time period is looked at as being full of lazy, self-centered, civically ignorant sheep. Perhaps you should be less concerned about me and more concerned about that.

When I played billiards last spring one of the people at my table commented on the news of a person claiming to be from 2036, this is the first time I've actually seen something of it.

His predictions in particular interest me, as they pertain to... globalization - a rather important topic to anyone in senior seminar such as myself. Regardless of what the truth is about his story, his existence, etc., what he apparently said sounds intelligent and does make sense in a fashion, especially the information regarding global and humanitarian issues.

Whatever your viewpoint is on the whole thing, it certainly makes you think about the realities in the world we live in today.

Hi,
It is nice reading blogs run by woman and makes me have a sense of feeling I am not so alone on this male dominated wired world.

Hello... looks like you got me confused with Matt Webb. He is the younger, cleverer one. I am the older, more embarrasing one. Thanks for think though!

Hey! do you know that if you click 'no' to 'Remember personal info?' in this comments field, AFTER you've typed in your name etc - then it wipes them?

<sigh>

I hate it when I do that.

It's the _second_ time, actually, though last time the error was the other way around, and Stewart (normally my fact-checker around here; he must be sleeping in today) caught it pretty quickly.

Don't suppose one of you could just change your name so as to avoid me any further embarassment? ;)

(And yes, I do know about that irritting MT "feature" when you click no. I've just been too lazy to fix it. Sorry...)
